On completion of 700 sessions of learning, sharing and sharpening skills for actors, cinematographers, designers and editors, an upbeat actor and director Boman Irani is celebrating a special milestone as Spiral Bound turns five. What started as a small, informal initiative during the uncertain times of the pandemic has grown into a thriving community where creativity, storytelling, and collaboration take center stage.
Reflecting on the journey, Boman took to social media to share his thoughts. He revealed that Spiral Bound began as a way to mentor and guide eager writers who were looking for direction and growth. In his words, “What started as an informal space has since flourished into a vibrant, thriving community. Today, we celebrate not just five years, but the incredible journey of passionate individuals – writers, actors, cinematographers, designers, editors, and so many others – who have consistently joined us, learned, and contributed to making this space what it is.”
Reflecting on the community spirit, Boman added, “We ask for nothing but the desire to learn, and in return, we’ve created a community built on collaboration, creativity, and mutual respect. Congratulations to all of you for being a part of this beautiful journey.”
Sharing his excitement, Boman captioned his post, “Celebrating 5 years of stories, growth, and community at @spiralbound_imt – here’s to many more chapters ahead! ”
Looking back at how far Spiral Bound has come, Boman Irani remains grateful for the creative minds who have been part of this beautiful journey. As the community marks five years, Boman hopes for many more years of storytelling, learning, and growing together.

Boman’s Instagram message said – Spiral Bound; it began as an informal way to mentor eager writers during the uncertainty of the pandemic. Thankfully, the pandemic ended, but Spiral Bound grew exponentially.
Anyone can join. Free of charge. The only problem is that the sessions are addictive. Spiral Bounders keep coming for session after session to learn, share, and sharpen their skills.
Actors, cinematographers, designers, and editors too find value in this beautiful community. 700 sessions old, we celebrate this special day with the promise of many more. Hoping that Indian cinema will benefit, careers will be created and strength of character will be a byproduct.
